Australia relaxes student visa requirements for selected research based courses

Australian Minister of Immigration and Citizenship on 15 February 2012 announced reductions in the student visa assessment levels for 29 countries for certain student visa subclasses. These changes will lower the minimum evidentiary requirements [English, financial capability and academic qualifications] needed for the student visas from certain countries and education sectors. Students from India and many other countries going to Australia for the master degree by research or PhD courses will benefit from these changes. These changes will apply to the students applying for student visa on or after 24th March 2012.

UK increases the funding requirements for student visa applicants

UK Government has announced increase in the access to the funds required for the grant of the student visa. These changes will apply to all the students applying for the UK students on or after 6th April 2012. These changes will require the students to show the increased amount of monthly maintenance funds from £600 and £800 to £800 and £1,000 for the institutions located outside London and inside London respectively.

Similarly, the dependents of the students will also be required to show the increased amount of monthly maintenance funds from per £400 and £533 to £450 and £600 for the institutions located outside London and inside London respectively.
